Covid -19 Update 13th August 2020

Hello and thank you for your continued support and patience with us whilst we are implementing new safety and cleaning measures and practices in these unprecedented times. I just wanted to give you an update of the changes that we have made since opening up again. You need to study this before your stay, so you know what to expect when you arrive. 

During your Stay
Please be respectful and courteous to our staff, as they are to you. We are spending a lot more time on cleaning and sanitisation to keep you and us safe. We may not be providing the service that you are expecting, as we are working within our affordability and practicality. A few of our staff are on furlough, so this means we are running on a skeleton team. Not all hours of the day can be covered anymore, and with the Covid-19 social distancing, we are starting to introduce scheduled check-in times and out-of-hours remote/contactless check-in. Please inform us of your expected times before arrival, particularly if you are going to arrive after 8pm so we can make arrangements for your check-in.

It is impractical for social distancing if guests all arrive in reception to check-in all at once, so you have an allocated check-in time of your own choice. Once one reservation has been checked in, the next booking is allowed to come into the building. If you arrive early or late you may have to wait while the guests before you are checked in. You must call reception when you ARRIVEIN the car park TO LET US KNOW YOU ARE WAITING TO CHECK IN. As from 8th August you are required to wear masks in the public areas.

Check-in
Your room will be ready for 2pm. You may check-in earlier than that and park your car if your room is not available.

On entering the building please be respectful of our staff. We have had to make alterations to our service, to adapt to this pandemic. It is not our usual service and please bear this in mind before your stay. It is new to us as well.

You will be greeted in reception and shown where the sanitising stations are and where breakfast is going to be and the up and down staircases.

You will be asked for a time that you would like to book your breakfast in 30 min slots between 8am to 10am. You may also choose a takeaway option if you prefer. If you don’t come down for your meal at your allocated time, then if the next people arrive, you will have to wait for them to finish. To speed up times and enable us to have your meal ready for your allocated time, we ask you to complete a breakfast pre-order form with your requirements and hand it in the night before for the next morning. Please do not take it out on our staff if you are angry with this. We have to comply with HSE and not have the dining area packed. 

On arrival to your bedroom you will notice that all soft furnishings have been removed and any excess bedroom inventory or amenities have also been removed. This is not because we have stopped supplying them, it is because of cleaning and sanitisation. You should be provided with tea, coffee etc at check-in. Please do not ask for more than you require at the time. We will always give you some more during your stay. Everything that is left in the room must be destroyed either used or not used. If you require any more during your stay please text/ring the mobile number which you will have been provided.

We will not be daily servicing of your room during your stay. There are bins provided outside in the gardens to empty your waste bins should you need too.

If there is any issue in your room, you must leave the room for us to be able to answer it and repair the issue. We will not enter in the room if you are in it.

If you are staying more than 3 nights, we will discuss your bed changes and clean towels at check in.

On departure from your room please put the key in the key box in the closed reception area so we can sanitise them.

If you are unhappy with anything, please address this immediately as we can only rectify things if we know about them.

We would also like to highlight that we are classed as a bed and breakfast. If you are savvy enough to book with us over the phone or our own website, breakfast will be included in the price as standard. For exactly the same price you are paying elsewhere. Please don’t be angry with us. It’s our loyalty gift to our customers. It’s the only place you can get it included in the price. Before you arrive please make sure you are on the right tariff for you.

If you do not wish to continue your stay. Please notify us before you have used the facilities in the room. We do not want anyone to continue with their booking if they are unhappy at our bed and breakfast at all or feel unable to adhere to the new rules. We will not tolerate any bad or rude behaviour especially that puts our staff or other customers in any danger, you will be asked to leave.

Yey!  We open again 10th July 2020 

Its been 107 long days since we closed, but, Covid-19 Has NOT beaten us! Finally, we are thrilled to say, we are open to take your booking.

Only direct bookings at first. We only have a limited amount of rooms that we are letting out, this is because of safety measures for yourselves and our staff. If you have already got a booking, details will be posted here and sent to you via email before you arrive. Please read carefully the new safety procedures before you arrive. We will update you via email and on our Youtube channel..  Changes have had to be made by law and for HSE purposes If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Covid-19 Notice 22 June 2020

Hello Everyone 

I hope your safe and well.

Well it's been a long 3 months being closed and so now is the time we are considering opening again. 

​If this goes to plan and we can confidently achieve the safety the measures the government has set out we will be opening for some guests from 11th July 2020.

As I write this, I'm not actually clear as to when York city itself, will be fully open. I know some bars and restaurants are opening with safety measures in place on the 4th July. The museums and The Minster are not open for visitors as yet, so you may like to consider that before making your booking.

We are having to make adjustments to comply with the government regulations. This is to keep you and our staff safe so you will need to check these before your arrival at the York Priory and respect us and our rules. We have to follow them by law.

A full explanation of those will be posted here soon.

Until we can establish that we can fulfill safety requirements, bookings will only be taken direct over the phone or via our website as we only have limited availability and need to contact you before arrival.

 

Covid-19 Notice 21st March 2020

Dear Everyone

It is with a very sad heart that we have taken the decision to close until further notice. We do not know when we will be next open, that will be governed by this wretched virus.  We will be answering messages etc, but will be on a limited basis. Please be patient. 

I don't know what is going to happen, this is totally unchartered territory, but I hope in the future, to see all my friends and people I have met over the years. I wish you a safe and healthy next few weeks. ,

Safety for people is more important than anything, we wish to commend our NHS and all the network of other volunteers.

Covid-19 Notice 18th March 2020

Dear all guests,

During these unprecedented times, and in accordance with Government guidelines, we will be altering our normal business hours and services.

We ask that you please respect these amendments as these are difficult times for us all. In addition to the previously announced changes (see below post), the following are in affect as of today:

• Reception ~ Will be closed during quiet periods; the duty manager will still be available should you need anything, just ring the bell at reception, or call one of the numbers below.

• The bar and Orangery ~ Will unfortunately need to be closed to guest access. At this time, we will still be supplying drinks upon request, just ring the bell at reception and we will happily serve you.

• Breakfast ~ Pre-orders will be requested on arrival and meals will be delivered to rooms at arranged times.

Covid-19 Notice 16th March 2020

Dear all customers,

We are taking the Covid-19 virus very seriously and until we are instructed differently, we will remain open for business.

We would like to ensure all customers of the preventions we are taking to ensure our establishment is as low risk as possible, putting customers safety at the upmost priority.

The precautions we are taking are listed below.

·        All the reception areas and the communal areas are being regularly cleaned with disinfectant throughout the day. Including contact points such as door handles, remotes and pens.

·        All soft furnishings are being sprayed with disinfectant regularly thought the day.

·        All cushions and throws have been removed.

·        Fresh filtered water has been removed from the rooms, you can access this from the reception staff.

·        We will continue to clean all rooms with up most detail as always. Following our standard disinfectant cleaning processes.

We ask that is you respect our staff and hotel during this difficult time. If you feel that you are unsure about your health, have a cough, runny nose and fever, please consider others, do not travel and self-isolate as per Government guidelines.
